Kit-built Aqua's ...
Avid Flyer on Aqua Floats
.... do it your own way!

A home built aircraft represents a significant investment of your time and money. When you are ready to float your aircraft, you want to know that the floats have the integrity your aircraft deserves. The AQUA KIT FLOAT is all aluminum, flat-skin construction. You may be familiar with glass or composite floats which are being produced in kit form by a variety of companies, and we are frequently asked why we stick to aluminum, with all the new materials out there.

You may NOT be aware that over the last 20 years there have been many companies which built and certified fiberglass or composite floats. New ones continue to be developed, but all suffer from the same problems. A boat's a boat, and a plane's a plane, and composites may do very well in both applications. But floats must go from one environment into the other, and back again, and again, and again....and there has simply been no equal to tough, flexible, lightweight, easy-to-repair aluminum for the very special stresses imposed by water take-off and landing. Thirty-year-old aluminum floats are still working today.

Once you have seen the AQUA KIT FLOAT or, better yet, taken off on rough water on our floats, you will appreciate their rugged, competent design which is backed by 30 years of certified float manufacturing.

We think you'll agree, the AQUA KIT FLOAT is no toy, but a rugged addition to your aircraft ready to go where you could never go before!

BEST FEATURES: The design of the kit floats is basically that of our certified floats, proven in use for 30 years, featuring real-world construction able to accept the punishment that water-flying can inflict. Flat, safe decks, cargo hatches in both floats, dual water rudders standard on most models, available on all models. Models 950 and 1150 are trailerable.

KIT AQUA DATA:

Model 950
length 12' 3", each float weigh 65 lbs. Flat deck 12" wide. Installation weight 150 lbs.

* A note about installation weights: there is lots of confusion about weights of floats. Every manufacturer wants theirs to be the lightest, and so weights of floats is given in many ways. We include in the installation weight the floats, and all the rigging necessary to attach the floats to your aircraft. It is a real-world weight. Of course you must deduct from this weight whatever your landing gear weight is. Be sure to check what's covered when "weight of floats" is discussed.

Model 1150
Length 12' 3", each float weighs 75 lbs. Installation weight 170 lbs.

Model 1500 Length 15' 3", each float weighs 100 lbs. Flat deck is 12" wide. Installation weight 250 lbs. Dual water rudders standard.

Model 1900 Length 16' 6", each float weighs 110 lbs. Flat deck is 11" wide. Installation weight 270 lbs. Dual water rudders std.

Model 2200 Length 18", each float weighs 129 lbs. Flat deck is 12" wide, dual water rudders std. Instl. weight 305 lbs.

MODEL NUMBER OF FLOAT INDICATES APPROXIMATE POUNDS OF WATER DISPLACED BY EACH FLOAT. 180% OF GROSS WEIGHT OF AIRCRAFT MUST BE PROVIDED IN BUOYANCY BENEATH AIRCRAFT BY THE FLOATS.

Formula: GW of aircraft x 1.8 divided by 2 = required size of each float
